Subjects

Only patients with moderate to severe pain with a preoperative pulpal diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis in anterior or premolar teeth were recruited to participate in this study. From the original 185 participants, 177 completed this study with 8 participants being excluded due to cross-infection. Seven subjects were lost to follow-up. Therefore, final data were collected from 170 patients (66 male and 104 female subjects with a mean age of 33 ± 10.50 years). Race and geographical distribution

Commentary and Analysis

Pain management in endodontic therapy remains both an essential aspect of patient care and an ongoing concern for both patients and providers. The issue of managing postoperative pain becomes particularly challenging in cases with significant preoperative pain levels. In addition, it has been shown that patients who have high pain levels preoperatively might experience higher levels of pain after endodontic treatment is rendered.1
