The Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice (JEBDP), in partnership with the American Dental Association (ADA), have provided a venue and opportunity for a group of international speakers, experts in their field, to discuss a broad range of topics associated with clinical decision support (CDS). This was a landmark meeting that also brought together Evidence-Based Champions (from a conference held just prior to this one), clinicians, policy makers, government and professional organization leaders, and educators.
The Proceedings contain original articles covering a wide range of topics that are at the forefront of clinical decision support. The speakers described clear and understandable examples of issues about the National Healthcare Information Infrastructure (NHII) e-education, e-prescribing, public health initiatives, and private practice perspectives. Discussions about how continuing dental education might benefit from CDS philosophy and technology were ground breaking in dentistry.
The editors thank Jane Ryley, Elsevier publisher, and Danita Jackson for the excellent support of the conference. The tireless devotion to the organization and logistical support by Sharon Myaard, ADA, helped to ensure an exciting and productive meeting.
The Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice is grateful for the excellent collaboration with Paul Warren and Leslie Winston of Procter & Gamble. Their steadfast support for evidence-based dental practice and CDS has helped to ensure that clinical decision making is continuously improving.
